O.K., it’s not true across the board, but many of us style-obsessed darlings know about thismuch when it comes to sports. Which is part of the reason a veritable fashion panic ensues when it’s time to take off the stilletos and hang with the boys.
This Sunday, it’s the Godfather of them all, Super Bowl Sunday. And even I who don’t follow football (except for the rare fair-weathered fan occurence, read: Super Bowl Sunday) I will partake in the festivities. Hey, there’s plenty of cocktails, food, commercials, not to mention, testosterone-filled rooms.
But, I digress. The issue always lies in the ever-so-delicate conondrum of how to look like the cool “casual” girl while still being supercute and fashionable. After all, strutting into a sports bar in a minidress and stilettos while (maybe) turning heads, won’t give you any credibility. And by the way, if you’re looking for credibility, check out this cool post on brushing up on your sports facts, here.
Here’s a few looks, pulled from net-a-porter, that are sports-festivities approved.
Why this look works? It’s comfy and casual enough to still look like the chick that’s down for anything, but you can get away with pairing them with some wedges, heels and feminine tops. Plus, what better time to channel that borrowed-from-the-boys look than when you’re hanging with the boys?
The T-shirt Dress
Why this look works? It’s easy, comfy and casual enough so that the boys won’t find you high-maintenance and can still gawk at your legs. This look works best if you’ll be at a BBQ, sports bar or big house party. Play around with big accessories as shown in the pics and think flat sandals to pull off the look.
Jeans & Jeggings
Why this look works? It’s totally classic. While it’s warm enough for sundresses and sandals, it’s still breezy enough to rock some flat or low-heeled bootsh with leggings. But if you’re really itching for some height, go ahead and rock some wedges with distressed denim and a casual top.
What are you wearing this Sunday??
