Beauty Busts | Vol. 2

beauty busts

This month, I didn’t do my typical monthly beauty favorites roundup, but that’s because I actually came across quite a few beauty busts! So instead, I’ve got another installment of beauty busts for you, and what you should be buying instead. (If you missed it, see my first roundup of beauty products to ditch here.)

Beauty Bust 1: Kérastase Carré Lissant

I pretty much worship anything Kérastase. But when these Kérastase Carré Lissant hairstyle touchup sheets came my way, I was legit confused. Ladies, if your hair is staticky, you’re trying to tame frizz or get rid of that smoke smell in your hair without having to wash your locks, try dryer sheets. They work like a charm. Kerastase found a way to deliver just the same, and charge $28 for it. Sure, schlepping around dryer sheets may not look posh in your purse, but it’s hardly worth the hefty price tag for the same thing.

Beauty Bust 2: Oscar Blandi Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray

I hate washing my hair. So dry shampoo is one of my favorite things in life. I picked up this Oscar Blandi Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray on clearance at Target one day and very quickly realized why it was in the clearance bin. This stuff promises to spray sheer, but it feels like the substance within it is sheer as well. As in, it does nothing. Nada. No volume. No oil fixing. Nothing.

Try: Drybar Detox dry shampoo instead. It’s volumizing, soaks up the grease and will give me an extra two days for my blowout.

Beauty Bust 3: Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion

Back in the day when I first started this wee little blog, one of the first beauty products I ever raved about was Olay’s Quench in-shower body lotion. Do you need to slap on some lotion in the shower? Probably not. A healthier alternative would probably be to lather yourself up in some coconut oil. But curious, I decided to give this Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion a go. I used it one time and couldn’t stand the smell. And my skin was definitely not any more moisturized than before.

Try: Olay Quench In-Shower Body Lotion instead. It works and doesn’t have an offensive smell.
