This weekend, we celebrated our very fist Valentine’s Day as three. We’ve never made a huge fuss about Valentine’s Day; flowers, Champagne and a small gift or dinner pretty much covers it around here. And with a new baby, well, I’m definitely not into staying up late and partying!
My mom came over Friday night to babysit as we decided to celebrate then instead of partake in the Saturday night chaos. I mean hey, we’re married now. Our date doesn’t have to be on the actual night where the restaurant suddenly is twice as expensive and twice as packed!
For dinner, we went to The Upton, which is the new restaurant where Petite Maison used to be, one of our favorite AZ restaurants. Let me just say, it was so underwhelming. The patio has been remodeled and is nice and spacious, but the vibe has completely changed. The hubby ordered a fried chicken that the waiter recommended and came with about 3 inches worth of batter. Not one. Not two. Like three. Really, it just tasted like any old fried chicken with a bit of honey rubbed on it. So underwhelming. We woke up the next day feeling unsatisfied and wishing we had gone elsewhere to celebrate.
Rico stalked my flowers and balloons all weekend but that’s ok, I think we got the last laugh….
And our Saturday was quite quiet. Because that’s what we wanted. These days, relaxing days that aren’t action-packed with work, family or social obligations are very welcome.
How was your weekend? Did you celebrate Valentine’s Day or perhaps a Galentine’s party?
