Guys, I’m excited. Like, that kinda-nervous kinda-excited kinda self-conscious feeling you get on your first day of school.
After a long, long makeover time, I’m finally unveiling my new website, Glitz & Grammar.
You see when it comes to something that’s like your baby, it’s pretty much NEVER ready. I could tweak it forever. I could do more and more just trying to make sure it’s really truly, perfect. But, that’s life, right? When something is yours, you know you can always do it better. But I know it’s time to step away and let this baby run free.
As you know, I’m a writer for hire. I’m working on using that term more so than “freelance writer” since these days, people seem to really get stuck on the word “free” and that’s not at all what a professional writer, magazine editor, blogger, copywriter, jack-of-all-trades offers. And over the almost 10 years I’ve been in this industry, I’ve been pretty lucky. I’d say about 90% or more of my business leads come to me. Referrals, social media (yes, social media gets you jobs!) Mediabistro and even the occasional Craigslist ad. Seriously.
So I’ve always only had a digital portfolio, since that’s all a writer usually needs. But my business continued to evolve to encompass much more than just magazine editorials. And (full disclosure) I often get a little stressed answering the “what do you do for a living?” question. Especially since, more often than not, it’s coming from close friends!
So early this year, I put “Project: Website Makeover” on my Official To-Do List. And here it is. So please forgive me for being self-promotional while I highly, HIGHLY encourage you to mozy on over to Glitz & Grammar and check it out!
While you’re at it, sign up for the newsletter. Even if you don’t work in social media yourself, I’ll be sending out tips relevant to fashion bloggers, freelance writers and social media geeks like me.
Did I mention The Facebook Page? Yes, go there please.
And by all means while I’m at it, feel free to Spread the Word!
That concludes my PSA for now. Thanks for reading 🙂
